Elevated to the co-vice-captaincy in 2019, Hanley played 16 of a possible 22 games. The 31-year-old notched his 150th game in Round 5, tallying 29 disposals in the loss to Adelaide. A shin injury followed by a severely corked quad saw the Irishman miss six games in the middle of the year, before returning to play the final nine games of the season. Hanley thrived with the added responsibility of 2019 in a relatively inexperienced backline. He finished 8th in the SUNS Club Champion in 2019 and still has plenty to offer in 2020 both on and off the field.
