Redland has signed its second big recruit in two days after former Collingwood defender and Bombers junior Adam Oxley put pen to paper for the 2020 NEAFL season.
Oxley rose through the club ranks and was an inaugural NEAFL player in 2011 before being snapped up by the Pies in the 2012 AFL Rookie Draft.
The 26-year-old follows another former Redland junior, and ex-Brisbane rookie Blake Grewar in committing to the club.
“I can’t wait. Getting back to my home and the fresh air of the Redlands is the change I need,” Oxley told the club’s website.
“Playing again with the football club that has given me so much in my life from the age of seven to 21 – well, it’s a big honour for me to be able to give something back.”
Oxley played 34 AFL games in an injury-ravaged AFL career and spent this year with Collingwood’s VFL team following his delisting in 2018.
Redland coach Phil Carse is overjoyed Adam is returning to the club where it all started.
“We’ve all been extremely proud of Adam’s career at Collingwood which saw him play a significant amount of senior football in a really strong program,” he said.
“Progressing from our junior program and working at our club in junior development before he was drafted, Adam is a shining light for our pathway and is now really keen to invest back into his home club that he has a lot of love for."
