AFL NSW/ACT General Manager Tom Harley will open the 2013 season in Walsh Bay on March 13, with club captains and coaches to be on hand as well.

Mr Harley and NEAFL Eastern Conference Manager Jack Masters will host the event, and will be previewing the upcoming year of footy.

Several NEAFL Eastern clubs have been able to draw AFL quality players to their ranks for 2013, which is shaping up to be one of the most tightly contested seasons to date.

Round one will commence on the 23rd of March, with the Belconnen Magpies at Home to the Eastlake Demons at Kippax Oval at 2pm.

The two-conference structure will see 171 home and away matches, with 6 Conference final which will culminate with the NEAFL Grand Final on the weekend of the 22nd/23rd of September.

As in previous years, every Eastern conference team will play at least 1 home and 1 away game against northern Conference teams.

The NEAFL is one of the premier breeding grounds for young talent, with many players from the league scouted by the Giants and the Suns throughout the season.

The event will be held at The Bar at the End of the Wharf on Pier 4, Sydney Harbour at 11am.
